Al Jouf Cement gets approval on green cement product in NEOM
Al Jouf Cement Co.'s plant Al Jouf Cement Co. announced the approval of its new green cement product for use in NEOM projects, according to a statement to Tadawul today, Dec. 29. The move follows successful development research conducted in partnership with ASAS AlMohilebCo.,a leading provider of high-quality ready-mix concrete. Al Jouf Cement said the greencement product reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 30%, making it an environmentally friendly option. In addition, the use of this new product inconcrete offers a compelling alternative to imported additives like groundgranulatedblast furnace slag (GGBS) and fly ash. Italsoenables the production ofhigh-quality concrete products that adhere to unique and stringent standards. Green cement exhibits a low reaction temperature, which is reflected in the concrete and makes it suitable for large-scale concrete works. The new product alsosignificantly enhances concrete's durability and longevity, reducing water absorption and permeability. Itis highly resistant to chloride penetration. Further, green cement provides resistance to sulfur and chloride salts found in the soil. Its compressive strength matches or exceeds that of ordinary Portland cement (OPC).The product offers improved heat insulation and fire resistance.
